Winton Castle

If you're looking for a Scottish Castle Wedding Venue then look no further. Winton Castle is absolutely stunning. It hosts large reception rooms for the ceremony, dining and dancing. The grounds are beautifully maintained for a romantic walk for your photos. There is also plenty of accommodation for your family with cottages within the grounds. The staff are also absolutely amazing and will make your wedding exactly how you want it to be.

Greg and Jade both grew up in East Lothian but have lived over in Australia for many years now. Last July they enjoyed a three week holiday back to Scotland to enjoy catching up with family and friends and have the most wonderful wedding celebration at Winton Castle. They also had some of their closest friends travel over from Oz. My favourite thing about this wedding was witnessing their new friends meeting their family and life long friends. The communal appreciation of the strong and supportive relationships and friendships that Greg and Jade have was an absolute honour to witness and photograph. I arrived to find Jade getting ready with her closest friends, her mum and mother in law to be. We laughed a lot, it was such a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Next I popped along to a wee cottage on the estate where Greg was enjoying getting ready with his closest friends. Awesome tunes were playing, drams were poured and fun chats were had. Pre ceremony photos are such a great addition to your gallery, it's also a brilliant opportunity for me to get to know your wedding party a little, this always helps with the flow of photos later on in the day.

After the excitement of getting ready, I always think it's lovely to have some quiet time ahead of the ceremony. Even just a few minutes to take some deep breathes and appreciate the lovely view out of the window can make a big difference. I took some beautiful bridal portraits of Jade, we then did an emotional first look with her incredibly proud dad.

Ceremony

The ceremony room in Winton Castle is stunning. It is located at the back of the castle, doors open out onto a balcony with views out across a lake and the gardens. Jade and Greg had The Cairn String Quartet playing beautiful classical music to welcome their guests. The ceremony was wonderful, with some lovely readings and personal vows. Claire Watt, their celebrant, always with a smile on her face helped the ceremony to run smoothly. There was a lot of laughter and plenty of joyful tears too.

Fizz and Hugs

One of my favourite times of the wedding day. I love taking beautiful candid photos of people celebrating the love.

Winton castle has a wonderful outdoor space. It is totally secluded and is the perfect place for enjoying a warm summers afternoon of drinks and celebrations. We took some wedding party photos out on the front lawn, it was all super relaxed and great fun. Greg and Jade's guests had an absolute blast, making the photos such a joy to take.

We then got the family over for some photos. I find that the majority of my couples don't want to be away from all the fun for too long. With some careful pre planning, the wedding group photos don't need to take long at all. In most venues I will find somewhere to do these photos that is close to all the other guests so it's all really relaxed and fun!

We then took a stroll around the castle for some lovely photos of Greg and Jade.

The evening reception room was beautifully set. I absolutely love this room, there is lots of natural light pouring in and plenty of space to host your guests comfortably.

After some fresh air and a peaceful walk we popped back into the castle for some incredible speeches ( not a dry eye in the place, including myself ) delicious food and some epic party times.

The band, Corra played incredible tunes all night long, the drinks were flowing and the dance floor was full. What an incredible day it was!

A huge thank you to all the wonderful suppliers
