Rustic BArn Wedding / fine dining
The happiest of days.
Mathieu's family all travelled over from France to celebrate, and boy did they celebrate! From the off, the wine was flowing, the laughter spontaneously erupting and hugs all round. Kirsty's family were wonderful hosts, it was amazing to photograph both families blend beautifully together to celebrate Kirsty's and Mathieu's love. The Free Company is a very unique space. Nestled on the Edge of the Pentland Hills and not far from Edinburgh, this working farm provides some gorgeous indoor and outdoor spaces to socialise within. It is an incredible Scottish Wedding Venue. They can accommodate up to 128 guests, with celebrations unfolding across their restored barn, farmhouse courtyard, private bar, and hayloft.
its the little things
Mathieu made these.
How wonderful is this, as their favours, Mathieu ( along with family help ) made all of these flowers. He also jazzed up his suit and added the beautiful flowers on his waistcoat by hand. What a talent, what a guy!
Fizz before the ceremony.
The champagne was flowing as guests arrived, having this time before the ceremony was so lovely, connections were made and it meant everyone was super relaxed and ready for a heartfelt ceremony conducted by wonderful Hazel ( see in suppliers list at the end )

The rest of the day flowed beautifully, after their ceremony (which was held in the hayloft due to the wind), the guests popped back downstairs for plenty more fizz and fun. We used the rustic barn for group photos which worked perfectly, the exposed beams and brick created a lovely warm light. The dinner was divine, all the ingredient are produced on the farm and from their trusted partners, meaning everything is fresh, seasonal and thoughtfully put together. They have recently been awarded with a Michelin Green Star, how cool! After dinner we explored some more and (with permission) sneaked into the green houses for some more photos. I figured the green house was like a giant soft box, the light in there was gorgeous. Party time was epic - throughout the day, Kirsty's family and been sporadically teaching Mathieu's family some ceilidh dancing moves, it was still absolute chaos on the dance floor but in the best possible way! I hope you enjoy seeing some of my highlights from the day.
Exploring the beautiful farm, pre dinner photos.
It was absolutely blowing a hoolie but that didn't dampen any spirits, in fact I think it made it even more fun. Spending time with these two was such a treat, joy and happiness in the purest form.
Groups, so much fun and girl power!
Mathieu has 4 sisters and Kirsty has one, as I was taking this photo of them altogether I spontaneously said ' girl power" ( it defo felt like the right thing to do). One of his sisters is pointed to a tattoo that says " GRL PWR " - love it! I think Mathieu was feeling a little out numbered - haha.
Exceptional food and speeches.
